The corona vaccination

From September 16 to December 6, 2024, people with a higher risk of becoming seriously ill due to corona can get the corona vaccination at the GGD. It's necessary to have an appointment.

Who can receive the corona vaccination?

  • People aged 60 and older
  • People between 18 and 59 who receive an annual invitation for the flu vaccin
  • Healthcare workers who work with vulnerable individuals
  • Children and adults from high-risk medical groups (such as those with immune system disorders)

How can I make an appointment?

  • Between August 27 and mid-October, people aged 60 and older will receive a personal invitation letter from the RIVM.
  • People under 60 who fall within the target group will not receive a letter from the RIVM. They can make an appointment on planjeprik.nl or by calling 0800 - 7070.

Which vaccin is used?

You will get the mRNA vaccine Comirnaty from Pfizer/BioNTech against the omikron variant JN.1.

Protein vaccine
For people who are not able or willing to get an mRNA vaccine, a protein subunit vaccine will be made available. The plan was to use the protein subunit vaccine made by HIPRA (Bimermax JN.1), but the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has not yet completed its assessment. EMA approval is necessary before the vaccine can be used. It is not yet known when the EMA will be reaching its decision.

Keep an eye on https://www.rivm.nl/en/coronavirus-covid-19/vaccination/efficacy-protection for updates on when the protein subunit vaccine is available. You will be able to get the vaccine then at other GGD-regions, like GGD Amsterdam (020 - 555 52 02).
